A$AP Rocky is starring on the big screen this summer in Sundance Film Festival favorite, DOPE.
The film is about a high school, nerdy hip-hop head named Malcolm, played by Shameik Moore, who has a rough time fitting in his neighborhood of Inglewood, CA with his high SAT scores, dreams of going to Harvard and preppy appearance. Things take a turn when he ends up with a stash of dope in his backpack that belongs to a big time drug dealer named Dom, played by A$AP Rocky. The film also stars Zoe Kravitz who plays Nakia, opposite Malcolm (Shameik Moore) as his #WCW and also includes A$AP Rocky‘s ex Chanel Iman who plays Lily. The best part is that Forrest Whitaker is narrating it all.
Rappers Casey Veggies, Tyga, Vince Staples and Diddy‘s son and upcoming singer Quincy Brown also make appearances.
This movie not only looks DOPE but it looks funny as hell. I can see this becoming a cult classic easily. Watch the trailer for the Rick Famuyiwa directed film, DOPE which will premiere in movie theaters everywhere June 19th.
