J. Cole released this emotional tune today in the wake of the murder of unarmed teen Mike Brown by Ferguson PD officer Darren Wilson. Brown was gunned down after showing the universal sign of surrender to Wilson who then shot him 10 times in the middle of the street. Brown’s murder has caused a stream of emotions, anger and hurt across America and J. Cole shares his feelings about the situation through this record “Be Free.” He cries in the song, “All we want to do is take the chains off. All we want to do is break the chains. All we want to do is be free.”
“Rest in Peace to Michael Brown and to every young black man murdered in America, whether by the hands of white or black. I pray that one day the world will be filled with peace and rid of injustice. Only then will we all Be Free” – J. Cole
