While Lupe Fiasco is gearing up for his upcoming project, Lost In the Atlantic Ocean, he blesses us with this gem of a song “Haile Selassie” titled after the late, great Ethiopian emperor he headed the Rastafarian movement and whom Bob Marley got his inspiration from.
Throughout the song he quotes the great leader. This song literally gave me chills. I learned about Selassie earlier this year on my quest to find Self. I encourage everyone who comes across this post to do research on this great man.
“Then until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, that until there no longer first class and second class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man’s skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes.”
-Haile Selassie
