Azealia Banks Calls Out Cultural Appropriation in Hot 97 Interview + Solange Knowles & QTip Co-Sign

Straight facts and the truth hurts sometimes.

“All it says to white kids is like ‘oh yeah, you’re great, you’re amazing, you can do whatever you put your mind to, and it says to black kids, you don’t have shit, you don’t own shit, not even the shit you created for yourself. And, it makes me upset.” – Azealia Banks

Her T.I. impersonation is hilarious…by the way. Whether you like Azealia Banks or not, she has some points and some points I myself have pointed on in this here blog. It’s upsetting when people in the culture help in catalyzing the demise of our culture. It’s awesome to have people like J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar who love the culture and are working to help preserve it. When you have everything taken from you and continually get dismissed as a whiny baby and to shut up it’s pretty exhausting. A lot of other entertainers may be on the fence with these views because of “yessuh massah” but I applaud Q Tip for acknowledging and recognizing her views as valid. I mean, TI and Iggy don’t want it with the Knowles so I doubt he’d come at Solange like he did with Azealia and Snoop Dogg.

Broke With Expensive Taste is a stupid good album. Available at iTunes here.
