Armed with nail polish, lipstick, eye shadow and various other unconventional material, NY native Eileen Hickey-Hulme, (Eileen Bang Bang to you) creates her pearlescent and abstract art, often juxtaposing images of power with those of fragility. The use of make-up to create such amazing pieces makes her art all the more interesting to look at.
Like many artists, Eileen Bang Bang drew inspiration from the surrounding waters discovering the duality of the calm healing waters and its deadly, storming waves. Conflict, cognitive dissonance, and duality are reflected in Eileen‘s paintings which question and disrupt a viewer’s typical understanding and experience of a painting. Eileen resolves the seeming disparity between Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, and Pop cryptically:
“I want to paint things that are seen but not seen.”
