Matter of Time is the debut collaborative album from Chicago native Smook Deville and Australia’s very own VictoriousVIC. Following up on the momentum of singles “Making Future Plans” and “Motivated by the Dreaming”.
The duo delivers an ode to the music they grew up on, with the influence of late 90’s and early 00’s hip hop and R&B which is evident in both the album’s production and Smook’s lyricism. The cross-continental collaboration is a throwback to that era, with a distinctive “Chicago” sound that still manages to sound current. Matter of Time touches on issues from violence in his hometown, depression, and relationship issues, all the while never losing sight of his end goal.
