CASANOVA / Free At Last EP

Three years after entering the stage as a mighty force to be reckoned with in the arena of hip-hop, Brooklyn rapper CASANOVA has released his eagerly awaited new EP, Free At Last.

To celebrate his EP release, Casanova has dropped a new visual for a track on Free At Last called “Like Me”. Directed by Cricket the Director, the video for one of the EP’s standout songs was shot in Atlanta, GA and premiered on BET Jams today, airing every hour on the hour. Fans can also check out the director’s cut of Casanova’s “Like Me” video available only at TIDAL.

Free At Last was preceded by its hugely popular lead single, 2AM,” featuring Canadian hip-hop star Tory Lanez and Nigerian-American Afropop phenom Davido, along with the cinematic music video shot in Lagos and Atlanta by Nigerian filmmaker Meji Alabi. Boasting over 2.9 million streams and 2.7 million YouTube views less than a month after its release, “2AM” is without a doubt the fastest growing single of Casanova’s career, enjoying success at both urban and rhythmic radio formats, plus global playlist support from all DSPs spanning hip-hop, R&B, pop and African music genres.

That the sleek, sexy track for “2AM” was produced by 30 Roc––hitman for stars like Travis Scott, Cardi B and Rae Sremmurd––supports why Cas entrusted him to produce the entire new EP. The two make a mighty duo. 30 Roc pulls from such a deeply inspired reservoir that all six tracks sound as though they were each conceived by different composers, allowing Casanova an opportunity to stretch beyond his felonious persona and flex new muscles. The pugilistic drums and sinister keys of “Steppin’ Out,” for instance, bring out his inner b-boy fresh hooligan. But with his darkest days behind him, Casanova is clearly more interested in having a good time and living up to his namesake in lighthearted, brutally honest tracks such as “Like Me.”

Free At Last is the first project Cas recorded outside of New York and the music reflects the newfound personal and creative freedom he relished while making it in Atlanta. Comprised of testosterone-fueled hardcore street bangers and hedonistic party jams, the EP is a provocative snapshot of Casanova’s life after his buzzworthy 2018 debut EP, Commissary, which featured guest appearances from A Boogie wit da HoodieG-Eazy,Chris Brown and Fabolous. Indeed, Free At Last is a dazzling display of Casanova’s artistic progression and growth that’s poised to catapult him onto the global stage in 2019.
