Known for their effervescent and deeply musical strain of hip-hop, Hare Squead effortlessly separate themselves from the pack. Translating their desperate longing into a breezy acoustic bounce, the Irish duo recently returned from an 18-month absence with the audio single “100 Miles. Today they bring the love song to life with some inventive cinematography and a HYPEBEAST premiere. The video for “100 Miles” expresses the sorrow and strange hopefulness felt when pursuing an unrequited love. Filmed in lo-fi black-and-white and directed by the group’s visual collaborator Isaac Nelson, Hare Squead opens up their bag of tricks, splitting close-ups of their faces with grainy superimpositions of a full moon and winking eyes and wide shots of stark grey landscape that would fit in an Ingmar Bergman film.

“100 Miles” has earned over 389,000 streams on Spotify, where it enjoys prominent placement on the influential, multi-genre POLLEN playlist (193k followers) and garners over 12,000 streams per day.

Blazing a trail for Irish hip-hop in their hometown of Dublin, Hare Squead developed a loyal fanbase on both sides of the Atlantic with their eccentric and melodic sound. Praised by the likes of PitchforkNoiseyThe Guardian, and many others, Hare Squead found the ears of Goldlink in 2017, when he included a remix of their song Herside Story” on his At What Cost album, generating over 35 million plays on Spotify. In 2017, the group released two acclaimed singles “Flowers” and “Pure,” which earned more than 6 million combined streams on Spotify alone. Raising their Spotify monthly listenership to over 841k, despite an 18-month hiatus, Hare Squead plans to treat fans plenty of genre-fluid and energetic new music in 2019.
